The Candy Nails Guide To The Perfect Pedicure
Nailing your technique
- Remove any old nail polish with a cotton pad and some good quality nail varnish remover.
- Use some top of the range toenail clippers to tame those unruly toes...
Cut your nails straight across leaving about 1/8” of length, do not let your nail over extend the tip of your toe...you want them as neat as possible. - For a soft square nail shape, file around the corner of the nails in one direction...we recommend an emery board and not a metal nail file as this has a tendency to rip your precious nails!
Being a glamour puss...you probably already know this but...
The smoother surface your of emery board is for smoothing the nail edge and the coarser surface is for shortening and shaping nails, a good quality emery board is always recommended for best results. - Fill a big bowl (or similar item) with warm water (not boiling- you don’t want to scorch those feet...)
Add bath salts, aromatherapy oils or Epsom salts (anything that takes your fancy, really) and let your feet do some serious soaking (really rough heels which have probably been battered dancing the night away in heels may well take a while longer!)
Here’s a top tip-
Milk added to the water can help to loosen dry and dead skin (it’s the lactic acid...clever huh?)
Add the all important cuticle remover to the each of the nails and rub it in, wait for a min or so then use the orange wood stick to push them back (be careful!) - Use a gorgeous exfoliator or foot scrub to clear the skin of any rough areas or dead skin cells (yuk!) use a foot file or a pumice stone to remove the offending dryness from balls of feet and heels.
- Dry your feet thoroughly with a clean towel and apply some nourishing foot cream, rub the feet and rehydrate your cuticles by rubbing in some cuticle oil.
- Use an acetone nail polish remover to rid your nails of the cuticle oil.
Apply a thin base coat to avoid any discolourations.
Now pick your favourite funky nail paint and apply 2 coats to each toe nail ensuring maximum coverage. (check out our selection in the Candy shop!)
Add an essential top coat so your toes are highly shiny.
Your toes will be wet so leave well alone until dry to the touch to avoid ruining your efforts and having to restart (we’ve all been there) - VOILA!
Now put your favourite foxy shoes on, get out there and strut like you mean it!
