Nail Art Water Marbling
Hey girls! Ever tried Nail Art Water Marbling? If not then read on! It's a useful little trick that helps you paint a marble effect on your nails- a bit like Nail Effects by Barry M but better – dare I say it! Ok, so how does it work? Well first of all, let me give you a list of things you'll need:
• Tissue Paper (to lay your hands on and protect your surface from all the mess!)
• A plastic or paper cup
• Sellotape (optional)
• Water (at room temperature for maximum effect!)• A chopstick (or any other wooden stick alike)
• Nail polish remover (handy to clean up any residue on your fingers!)
• 2/3 shades of nail polish
Ok so first thing's first, you need to set up your work area – just cover your surface with some tissue paper so you don't get nail polish all over the place. Rest your hands and paint your nails with your base colour- I've found that white works well when marbling.
You might also want to cover your fingers with sellotape so as to avoid the nail polish from dripping down your fingers – you'll understand why later although you might that this happens anyway!
Next you need to fill up your cup with water (make sure it isn't too cold or the magic won't happen- try keeping a bottle of water in your room for a few hours!). Take your first shade of varnish and let the polish drip into the cup. Repeat this step with all your colours – I find the end results are even more amazing when you choose 3 shades of different levels e.g. white, lavender and dark purple or yellow, orange and red!
NOTE: Don't add too much polish/colours into the cup or you'll find that it'll actually start to dry in the cup so you need to work fast!
Now it's time to pick up your chopstick and drag the mix around starting from the edges- this'll give you your 'marble' effect. Make sure you always start from the outside and not the centre- it's more effective this way!
Now what? Now dip your fingers in! You might find it's easier to dip 2 fingers at once. Keep your fingers in the water for a few moments before switching fingers. The marble effect on your nails will dry very quickly but don't worry if you have lots of it on your fingers as well as nails- that's what the nail polish remover's for! Remove the sellotape (it's probably easier to cut it off) then use some cotton wool or a cotton bud to clean your fingers and the edges of your nails.
Voila! How awesome do your nails look?! Such a simple, yet amazing method – try it this season, I can assure you you'll get hooked! Experiment with a range of rainbow colours and do share your pics on our Facebook wall- we'd love to see them! :)
