Nail Polish - more than simply decoration
Girls and women love nail polish (don’t we !!) We wear it at work, at home, when we go out. There’s a nail polish colour for every occasion and for every personality.
But do you know anything about nail polish other than the fact that you love it ?
Know anything about nail polish history ?
When men tell you there have never been any strong ,powerful women talk to them about nail polish history!
Sound strange ?
Not really. The ancient Egyptians wore nail polish to show how important they were. Pale nail polish colours were worn by women of less importance whilst red was worn by important women. The darker the red, the more important the woman. Heard of Nefertiti and Cleopatra?
Two of the most beautiful ,most powerful women in the ancient world. What nail polish colours did they wear ?
Ruby red and crimson respectively. These colours showed their power and status.
And we thought nail polish was just to help us feel good.
The Chinese royal family used nail polish colours of gold and silver to show their importance.
When? In and around 600 BC . And you thought only modern women wore nail polish!
Later the Chinese royal family associated red and black with power.
But enough of nail polish history. Nowadays women wear nail polish mainly for fashion although you might want to think about the power messages nail polish can send!
Today women can buy any nail polish colour. From blue to green ,from red to black, from yellow to purple.
We wear it now to make us feel good ,to make us feel sexy ,to match our outfits.
But perhaps ,just perhaps we ought to think about wearing nail polish for power again!
